How FaceScore handles your data

Your photos are never stored on our servers. Images you upload or capture are sent to our AI analysis engine solely to generate your score and breakdown. They are processed in real-time and immediately discarded after analysis is complete.
A copy of the result (not the original photo) may be stored locally on your device for the history feature. You can delete your local history at any time from within the app.
What face data is collected: When you take or upload a photo, the image (including facial features visible in it) is transmitted to our AI service for analysis. We do not extract, store, or create a biometric template or facial geometry profile from your image at any point.
How face data is used: The photo is sent to OpenAI's API, where a vision AI model analyzes visible facial characteristics — such as symmetry, skin quality, jawline definition, and similar aesthetic features — to generate a numerical score, factor breakdown, and personalized improvement tips.
Third-party sharing: The photo is shared solely with OpenAI for the purpose described above. It is not shared with any advertiser, data broker, or other third party. OpenAI processes the image under their Privacy Policy and Usage Policies. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models by default.
Storage: We do not store your photo on our servers at any point. The image data is held in memory only for the duration of the API request and is discarded immediately upon completion.
Retention: Because we never store your photo, there is nothing to retain or delete on our end. All face data processing is strictly real-time and ephemeral.
Where this is described in our privacy policy: This section ("Face Data — Detailed Disclosure") is the authoritative description of face data handling. The "Third-Party Services" section below further describes our relationship with OpenAI.
We collect minimal data necessary to provide the service:
- Device identifier — a randomly generated anonymous ID used to associate your credits and purchase history. It is never linked to your name, email, or real identity.
- Purchase information — transaction receipts are verified through Apple's servers to confirm in-app purchases. We do not store full payment details.
- Usage metadata — anonymised counts of features used (number of scans, chat messages sent) to improve accuracy and app performance.
We do not collect your name, email address, location, or contact list.
Data we collect is used exclusively to:
- Deliver AI analysis results and improvement plans
- Verify in-app purchases and credit balances
- Improve the accuracy and quality of our AI models (aggregated & anonymised only)
We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
FaceScore uses the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy and subject to equivalent data-protection standards:
- OpenAI — Our core AI analysis engine. When you submit a photo for analysis or send a chat message, the relevant data (photo and/or conversation text) is transmitted to OpenAI's API. What is sent: your photo (for scoring) and/or your chat messages and prior conversation history (for the AI Coach). What OpenAI does with it: OpenAI processes the data to generate a response and, per their API data usage policies, does not use API inputs to train their models by default. Data protection: OpenAI maintains SOC 2 Type II certification and GDPR-compliant data processing agreements. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store — Handles all payment processing for in-app purchases and subscriptions. We receive only a transaction receipt token; full payment card details are never visible to us. See Apple Privacy Policy.
We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
FaceScore offers the following auto-renewable subscription plans, available through Apple's in-app purchase system:
- FaceScore Light — 25 credits per week
- FaceScore Pro — 100 credits per week
- FaceScore Prime — 250 credits per week
Payment: Subscription fees are charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The exact price is displayed in the app before you subscribe and may vary by region.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (weekly) unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price as the original subscription.
Managing or cancelling your subscription: You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase. To access these settings: open the Settings app on your iPhone → tap your name → Subscriptions → select FaceScore.
Free trials: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Data related to subscriptions: We store your anonymous device identifier alongside your subscription status and credits balance so that your entitlements are correctly restored across app reinstalls. We do not retain your payment card details — all billing is handled exclusively by Apple.
Refunds: All refund requests for in-app purchases must be submitted directly to Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

The Apple Standard EULA supplements our own Terms of Use. In the event of any conflict, the Apple EULA and App Store policies apply to purchases made through the App Store.
Your anonymous device ID and associated purchase records are retained for as long as your account is active, to ensure continuity of credits and purchase history.
Since we do not collect personal identifiers, there is no personal profile to delete. To reset all local data, uninstall the app or clear its storage from your device settings.
